Has anyone experieced sneezing during a dive? I've found that quite often, I get an attack of the sneezes. Usually the first and second dive of a trip. After that it tends to go away.

I often sneeze if I'm in an air conditioned room for too long. I suspect it has to do with the dry air.

It's more an annoyance than a problem. I just pull my reg out, sneeze, then put my reg back in.

Anyway, has anyone else had this problem?

Gesundheit!

Michael

I had it once, I was clearing my mask and a little jelly or other stingy thingy swam up my nose. Apart from that, never.

Geesh! I sneezed about 5 times during my dive yesterday. I DO NOT pull my reg out of my mouth. I just sneeze like I do on land. Nota problem.

Eww. Doesn't that make your mask all yucky?

I have a problem underwater since I can't use my sleeve to clean up afterwards. :D

No, they were dry sneezes...if they were gooey and all, I doubt I would be diving since it would mean my sinuses are all messed up...

I cough a bit...especially in the Quarry...i think its the algae....gets to my allergies going. How do you signal bless you under water?

Yeah, probably the dry air.

I sneeze with the reg in my mouth, as taking it out is somewhat dangerous.

Sometimes I'll take my mask off and blow my nose farm boy style...

The Dr Decompression forum is described as being for "...questions concerning the scientific aspects of decompression. This forum is to provide information of a scientific nature." Dr. Deco is a Ph.D. research scientist.

As your inquiry about sneezing clearly is not about the scientific aspects of decompression, I have taken the liberty of moving it to the Diving Medicine forum where it should get a proper response.

In fact, I will check back later to see what you have been told.

Best regards.

Sorry Doc. I'm a bit new to this.

Regards pulling the reg out. I was a bit worried about damage; seeing as a sneeze is quite a violent expulsion of air. But you're all right. A damaged reg is not that much of a problem.
