the doubles are recommended to start at the break point of the tank and if you have to move them you move them, it is not a rule that they have to go there. You can make it constant all you want but if I did that I would be diving an unsafe rig because I would either have the plate up too high which would cause back problems as I was walking and cause he rig to be horribly unstable, or if I put the plate where it is supposed to live, then I would be unable to manipulate valves. I dive a Transpac normally since it has multiple grommets so I can move the tanks up the two inches that I need to get it in the right spot, or I use an extra long backplate that does the same thing. Just saying that this isn't a one size fits all campaign despite whatever consistency you want. That rig works great if you are 5'9 to 6'2 tall and are of "normal" build, it's what the guys that designed it looked like, but for those of us that fall outside of that realm, it doesn't always work and that is the danger of drinking the kool-aid. My rig is just as consistent as yours, but instead of at the break point, my bands are typically 3" lower than the crown on a normal length backplate.
