The marine grade ones tend to be a bit different than the ones you usually find in the hardware store. Or so I'm told from people who've tried that. The springs inside are usually not stainless steel on the cheaper hardware store one's which somewhat defeats the purpose.

A stainless steel snap bolt will almost always have a SS spring but I have seen exceptions. Probably an error in assembly. The brass one sometimes have SS springs or you can get SS spring stock from MC and replace them. Tractor Supply has the best selection in my area.

Thanks for the info. I don't know if we have a tractor supply in this area. I've come up empty looking at the local marine stores and hardware stores.

I live in a non-diving onehorse town & am I'm needing a couple of snapbolts, around 3/4" size.....Hardware stores here don't carry the type(finish) we use, so my question is where's the best place(price) to order them online??/....Thanks in advance...........

Central Tractor (Farm Supply Store)

West Marine has them too.

I get them right at Home Depot, most home depots have a small section of marine grade stainless

I agree. The SS snap hooks I picked up from LOWE's have already started to show signs of rust. I too questioned the springs, and the quaility used. Thanks.

Tractor supply has the best prices for snap bolts. Plus have stress tested a few.

The Nix dog collar place has the best prices, period, but I don't currently have the need for that kind of volume of a single size.

I usually get mine at TechDivingLimited. They have them on sale on a regular basis, and I buy 5 or so (mixed of various sizes) periodically so I have plenty lying around, avoiding the need to pay high LDS prices. (There are several LDS' that carry them here in SoCal, but they're really pricey by comparison.)
