I saw there was a poll done last year about this time on who smokes and who doesn't. I am so fascinated, tho, by the high percentage of people, that I have been aquainted with, that dive and smoke...and many are dive-cons and instructors...that I thought that I would run another poll just for fun. I am including, tho, a place to check if you have quit since you've been diving.
Don't anyone take offense...this is supposed to be for fun!:D
I have also noticed a high percentage of that same group of people "drink", but we'll let someone else start that thread

Another instructor here who smokes :hiding: . And to make it worse, yes started smoking after I started diving (obviously, as I started diving at the age of 12).

Love the couch:D ...you folks are quite creative.
That's awsome you've been diving since so young. My youngest daughter is 12 and she wants to certify way bad! What's your opinion, since you started that young?
Thanks for the input...mg

Never smoked, never will. I want to keep my lungs in the best shape they can be. My father smoked pretty heavily and I lived 23 years with his second-hand smoke. That's all I needed to see.

On a side note: I could never understand why anyone involved in scuba diving would ever smoke, when our lung function is so vital. JMO -- no offense intended.

never have smoked and I never will after watching my grandma die of lung cancer. I'm not judging anyone out there who smokes, but I do think those f*cking cancer sticks should be banned.

the last couple posts show clearly that this will be a "fun" thread, as was supposedly intended. Duh!

Okay...it appears "fun" may not have been the best term to use.
Thanks for continuing to vote anyway :thumb:

I've never been able to understand why so many divers will go to almost any length to conserve their gas or carry ever larger volumes of gas, only to smoke and cut their lung capacity? Go figure! Life is always about choices......!

I don't smoke and don't understand divers that do, guess it's their business. Besides, cigarettes are so expensive and I'd rather spend my money on dive gear. Do enjoy a brew now and then, but not when diving.

That's the truth, if you have a pack a day habit and quit, you have a good chunk of change available to be buying diving equipment. After a year, you could have a nice HID light, a BP/W, ... . ; and that's if you are only smoking one pack a day!
