I've read that since the Uwatec algorithms utilize temperature information, and that if you are wearing a drysuit the computer will calculate incorrectly since you are not exposed to the water temperatures as the computer is.

Is this really a problem? Also, is there a way to adjust the computer so that it doesn't include temperature in its calculations?

We need to buy computers and its between the Vyper and the Smart Pro - I love the Smart Trak software and the fact it graphs temperature as well as depth. But the SDM is also very good (relative to Pelagic software ... which leaves much to be desired). Which would you buy and why (no price arguments, please). We dive dry most of the time in SoCal so the waters range from 50's-high 70's.

I just re-read my post and it sounds like I'm deciding between these computers based on their software - this is not the case. We know both these computers tend to be on the conservative side, but we rarely get close to NDL times as we run out of air much before that. Nonetheless, if the inclusion of temperature is a significant factor in the Smart Pro's calculations it would make a difference since we dive dry.

I dive a Smart Com and a Drysuit in the Great Lakes and have never noticed this if it is a factor. On a recent dive, my NDL @ 28% EaN was the same as my Buddy's who has a Vyper. I like the gauge mode feature for staged Deco dives too. I dove a vyper last night and prefer the display on the Uwatec.

No, its not significant. Don't worry about non-things.
