Thanks for all the helpful advice. I called DGX and verified the dimensions of the trim weight pocket to be 3.25 X 3.25 inches square which is pretty small, if accurate. The Nite Ize holster measures 3.5 X 5.5-so the DGX pocket is even smaller than that (but what a great suggestion). I am looking for pockets that will hold 1-2 pound weights snugly, with not much more space to spare. Any more ideas?

1# bullet weights? Clip them where you need them... use a bungie loop or piece of a bicycle tire to keep them from bouncing around?

As someone noted earlier, they do mount horizontally. So, they would possibly be pointed down when you are in horizontal trim. My solution for this is that I mount them on my tank straps. I orient them to point at my back plate and I slide them as far down/forward as they will go, so they are pushed up against the back plate. They have really big pieces of Velcro to hold them closed. But, if they were to somehow come open, I think the back plate would block the weights from falling out of the pockets.

Of course, you could mount them the other way, so they'll be pointed up when in horizontal trim. But then a weight definitely could fall out if the Velcro flap somehow became open (and you turned yourself somewhere near upside down/face up).

If I were using them on the waist belt of my harness, I would probably orient them to open "up" when in horizontal trim, and then possibly also use some bicycle inner tube to put around the whole pouch once the weight is inside, to ensure they stay closed. But, the velcro area is so big, I really don't think I would feel like the inner tube was needed.

I have the DGX pouches and they are very well made and do not open easily at all. Mine are mounted the opposite of @stuartv but are also pushed all the way to the plate.

Note that a soft weight has 20-30% more volume. I did a couple of dives with 4lb soft bags in DGX pouches and they were overflowing, it's a good thing DGX put that much velcro on them. I'm guessing a 2 lb soft bag will be only a little loose in there, so dep. on what weights you actually use, there may not be that much room left to spare.

My BH's bullet weights have a 2" slot you can slide a piece of velcro through. It looks a bit narrow for any decent-size bungee but inner tube should work in there.

I really like these from DTD (euro brand, don't know if they sell in the US):

Up to 2kg (4 lbs ish), hold 1kg blocks very nicely, slippage prevented by a tri-glide. Several color options. Large Velcro surface and solid closure.

I'm glad this thread came up, I needed trim weight pockets and the reviews and opinions here were great. I ended up ordering the DGX trim weight pockets and plan on mounting them to the cam bands on the tank. Thanks.

I went ahead and ordered the DGX trim weight pockets.
Stuartv--the pictures you posted really clarified a lot of the questions for me. Thanks for doing that-you are a true resource on the board.
