Hmmm, where have I seen this before?

I went skydiving once and loved it. It was an experience I want to do again but I don't think I could get addicted to it like I'm addicted to diving.

Well I would like to try it at one time. I payed over $3500 to get my commerical pilots licenens to fly a jump plane but to never worked out:depressed: I might go and just pay for a jump one day. OH I was big into flying at the time the skydiving was just a bonus. :D

As someone with just a little bit of experience at skydiving, I can assure you it is very difficult (in time and money, mostly time) to stay on top of your game at both, at the same time.

It's like 1+1=3.

Fun, though. I wouldn't give up jumping with my team, the Pacemakers, for anything.

All the best, James

I've always wanted to try it since I think it would have to be an awesome experience but have to admit I find it somewhat scary at the same time. One of these days I may get up the nerve to actually try it and I'll see what happens when I'm in the door.

You've got to do it at least once! :) that door was always the "worst" bit for me. Before it was fine. After the plunge out the door - fine. That sitting at the door - ooof.

It's something I really want to do someday, but haven't really had a great opportunity to do it. One day though!!

I'm thinking I would be the same as you. There's only one way to find out for sure though!

I spent a couple of summers dropping skydivers on weekends while waiting for that dream airline job to open up before I suddenly became a single parent in the late '70s. Since being an airline pilot isn't conducive to single parenthood, I decided to keep my temporary airplane fixin' job and ended up retiring from it.

I admit to having pilot's disease: why jump out of a perfectly good airplane when you can land it?
I also admit to the only thing stopping me from jumping back then was the fact that I have two bad knees and one bad ankle from playing football (and skiing) and I could just see me trashing something landing in a hole in the field or something like that. I dropped a skydiver once who blew her PLF and trashed her ankle badly enough to end her military career. That wasn't too cool.

If I were younger and could be guaranteed to fly a square rig instead of the round canopies they used back then I'd jump in a heartbeat.

P.S. It is really cool to bank the airplane into the open door and watch the jumpers get smaller...

I sky dived for about 2 years non-stop. As someone said, it is very addicting. I haven't jumped in several years but I still have my parachute and all of my gear just in case one day I want to get back into it. Right now however, diving and teaching it is my passion. I recall...What was that movie with Patrick Swayze and Keano Reeves...or however you spell his name...Point Break I think the name of the movie was. Swayze took Reeves on a skydive and he said it was 100% pure adrenaline. He was right on...
