Size of Oceanic Geo?

As many know I am full of questions as a soon-to-be newbie diver.

I have narrowed the search for dive computers for the wife and I to a few models, one of which is the Oceanic Geo.

One item I am concerned with is the size/readability of the screen on the Geo as it is deemed "watch" vs. computer in terms of size.

Does anyone have one and can they give me some idea as to the size of the unit and the readability of the unit compared to other wrist computers.

Note: As a comparision I am also looking at the Cressi Archimedes II and a few others in that general feature-set/price range.

It's DEFINITELY not as large as the puck style computers. Bigger than a typical Seiko dive watch. About the size as a larger G-shock type watch, but quite light and unobtrusive.

geeze...it doesnt look all that much smaller than the Gekko...not quite as thick, but definately bigger than I thought it would be

Thanks H2ODoc! How easy is it to read underwater? I have heard that some of the graphs are hard to see. The wife and I have great eyesight, but want to make sure as newbie divers that all the important information is easy to read/see.

Which graphs are you talking about. What you need to know and see really is dive time at depth, total dive time and, countdown timer and variable ascent rate. My Geo has a really nice easy to read display. Remember everything is magnified underwater.

Only thing that could be better would be a good and decent alarm that has a snooze feature so i can use it as my normal wakeup alarm. its just too short, soft and basic.

Anyone know if the Atom 2 has a better alarm rig?

Thanks gee13. I guess I have been looking at too many wrist watches/computers and confused the capabilities of the Geo with something else that does have graphs.

Well all-in-all it sounds like the Geo is a great beginners computer. So now it is that or the Archimedes II!

Overall, I'm happy with the Geo. Comfortable. Light. All the features I'll ever need. Easy to read underwater. No graphs that I know of, though.

For ease of use, though, I found my wife's Veo200 to be easier to program. Not sure why - it only has two buttons compared to the 4 on the Geo. The Veo, though, is a puck/console type of computer. Once you learn the programming with the Geo, its no big deal. Switching back and forth from air to nitrox took me a few tries to learn, but nothing too complicated.

I think the Gekko is significantly bigger. I've seen people wearing those around and they are much bigger than the Geo. You could wear the Geo around as a watch and nobody would know that it's a dive 'puter.

Hard to beat the Geo for price and features. I can't imagine you'd be disappointed with it.

I will...my impression of the size/fit though may be relevant to your wife (I'm female). I will be using it in May.
I'm actually a little worried now that I see it on a man's wrist,..it may be too big for me..but we'll see

Any idea on the size of that in mm? Just curious... I'll know on Wednesday as my wife and I each have one on the way - but I am a watch geek so I want to know as much as possible ahead of time
