I may be visiting Singapore in the next couple of months for a day or two. I wouldn't mind doing a dive but am clue-less about where to immerse myself. Any recommendations about where to get wet and what the local "highlights' are (if any?).
I do not fancy diving under oil tankers and cargo ships but am otherwise quite happy diving with less than ideal (or outright horrible) conditions.:D

The best diving in Singapore is at Underwater World on Sentosa. As they may not be what you have in mind, there is really just one or two "dive sites" regularly visited by a handful of people. They are Hantu and Raffles Lighthouse. There is plenty to see if you enjoy diving with a cloth bag over your head. Most Singapore divers take weekend trips to Malaysia or Indonesia. You can leave on a Friday night, return on Sunday night and have truly fantastic diving in between. Most dive shops in Singapore have weekly trips.

MISO-coloured cloth bag.

There is plenty to see in Hauntu tho.. lots of macro. I've seen more at the mini aquarium in the crowded coral reef in Wisma Atria in the midst of Orchard road, incl a black-tipped reef shark.

I thought a dive package in Sentosa Underwater World would be quite nice under the controlled condition and the guaranteed sighting of mantas, eagle rays, morays, leopard sharks, etc, with viz more than 50 meters, LOL.

They should grow some sponges and gorgonians in the acrylic tunnel too.

Some buddies of mine moved to Singapore and couldn't kick the diving habit. Now they have to go on regular day trips in the vicinity. Here are their snapshots of one such trip, to the island Salu. Only 3 meters visibility :jpshakehe

Better dive the aquarium, I'd say.

@ Have been to the aquarium already two times on previous trips.

@ Are those beach/shore dives or boat dives?

@ I've dived the whole East coast of Peninsular Malaysia already extensively including P.Aur, P. Tioman, P. Lang Tengah, P. Tenggol, P. Redang, P. Perhentian and lots of tiny "Pulaus" inbetween the above mentioned islands.

@ Have been to Sentosa already on previous trips. Also, have dived already on the "upsidedown" reefs (under the hull!) of of large passenger ships and other boats. Was hoping to do somewhere an easy "muck" shore dive and breathe bubbles for 90 minutes or so.:D

@ I am actually looking for a shore dive with more "challenging" conditions and the not so guaranteed marinelife sightings.:D
