Getting bent is free with DAN, making multiple trips costs gas $$$ and entrance fees!

Sheesh, don't you know anything about managing money!?! :)
Oddly enough I agree with that reasoning. A 12 hour drive from VA, a couple hundred in gas, motel rooms or trailer rent, etc, make we want to skip the sleeping accomodations and just dive 24/7 while I am there and limit surface intervals to the time required for fills and tank changes.

And don't forget time spent recovering from DCS is allowable medical leave rather than vacation time. Now if I could just get them to airlift me home at the end of the week that would be perfect.

I did Apprentice about a year after Cavern/Intro.
Then did Advanced/nitrox Deco.
Then Did Full.

I've always been a SLOW stepper , you betcha dere.

Adv Nitrox/Deco was a GREAT class. Learned a lot. And gave me my 1st real experience with carrying a stage (even though it's not a stage etc...) EEK

(Well , you know what I mean)

OK , carrying 2 Deco Bottles ( lol )

My .1246 cents worth.

Thanks!

Thanks Jean....I think that is the direction I am heading. It seems that it has worked well for a number of people.

Also, some agencies will cert you for up to 50% but not 100% and 100% O2 is pretty much the gold standard in Florida cave country for a single deco gas dive. That greater flexibility in gas selection makes TDI a good choice for the advanced nitrox/deco procedures training.

I believe you're referring to IANTD in your 50% comment. That was true when I did my Advanced Nitrox/Deco course and the reason I chose TDI. However, that is no longer the case. IANTD has revised their standards and their Advanced Nitrox course now trains for the use of 100% O2.

The shop I work at is an IANTD facility, but none of us have gotten this update. Where can we learn about the change and when will it be in effect? There's nothing on the IANTD site.

Thanks

Pull up the latest standards (2009) and read over them. It's right there.

Glen I took no classes between intro and full, but I did get about 50 cave dives before I took full. That and I dove with people with better skills then I, which you have been doing for a while. (I don't mean that with any disrespect.) You're gonna have to take adv nitrox anyway, the sooner the better.

All you have to do is log into the instructor section of the site and download it to your computer.

Totally agree with all the comments that being deco certified is very useful for Full Cave

As an academic point though, what is the situation with a Full Cave diver that is not deco certified? Are they supposed to do deco on backgas? Is a Full Cave card good enough to get O2 fills?
