I'm going to be in Thailand backpacking solo April 20th-May20th. I have a last moment idea like to try and throw in a liveaboard in the Similan's. I live in Grand Cayman, so I'm used to decent diving.

I had thought about putting the diving off till the end of the trip, but is the weather going to get bad too quickly? I'm thinking about a 4/4 trip on the MV Mermaid II. Looks like the last one on the schedule is May 9th. Guess cause of the weather? It looks to be one of the bigger boats.

Thanks for any tips/suggestions!

Ryan

Go to the Similans as early as you can. Somewhere in May the wind changes direction, which normally brings unstable weather during that time. And after the wind has changed direction the waves will get bigger, with hardly any boats going.
