I do pretty much what's in the video except I have a butt plate instead of cam bands with d-rings on the tanks.

Add a buttplate to your system. I use a ring bungee system pulling the deco bottles in underneath my armpits. I also use chokers on the valve necks to keep them really tight.

It's certainly not a "standard" way of rigging but I think it's pretty streamlined for tight spots.

Ok, here's what I did and how it rides, does this look correct? It's actually pretty comfortable and feels secure on a leash, I like it this way.

The variant with the bungee didn't work for me this time, for some reason I was unable to push the deco bottle far enough down to fully hide inside my armpit. Perhaps I didn't attach the bolt snaps in the right places, I tried to move and shorten the attachments compare to what they previously were.

Bottle looks fine. One suggestion since you have limited bottle handling skills at this point in your career is to move the bottle on the bottom, not midwater. You drop it and you have ALOT more time to do (while you cry about the $500 you just sacrificed)

I use the same system to mount my bailout tanks with my rebreather

I'd recommend working a bit on your configuration and getting a sidemounted deco tank to work. Seems much more comfortable and streamlined than having it on a leash.

I just added a Dive Rite Tech Buttplate to my SF2 CCR. I'm also using a ring mount with chokers for the tops of the tank. Very simple and doesn't get in the way of anything.

The way I have been taught to wear the bottles, and the way most people seem to wear them, it seems like a massive entanglement hazard.

That statement seems a bit dramatic.

I mean, there are always ways of improving things, and the bungeed system does improve streamlining and has been adopted by a significant number of tech divers. On the other hand, the standard way of clipping off deco bottles has been used for millions of dives over the years, and I don't think that I have ever heard of a problem with it like that.

I find that even an 80 clipped off in the standard way (shoulder and waist D rings) virtually disappears underwater, and I carry a big DSLR rig. I do see the advantage of the bungee, don't use it myself. Don't know if there are any downsides - I guess there is the minor issue of slowing you down a bit when staging a bottle, but I doubt that has any real world implications.

It looks like you are carrying your deco bottle between your legs there. Is it really only attached at one point, near the valve? THAT seems to be an entanglement issue, and I would also wonder about the ease of deployment and interference with your kick, but maybe I'm missing something, never having tried that.

"Inelegant" was the phrase I was thinking. I actually have clipped a deco bottle there before while side mounting, simply because I hadn't figured how to clip it off on both ends easily. Then I watched Lamar from Dive Rite in a YouTube video clip off the butt first, ant then clip off the chest. That made it quite easy for me, so now I clip it off front and rear.
