That's what I would say as well. There is enough to learn in just going to a rebreather that you don't need to make it more difficult because you may want to go a specility route sometime in the future. One of the common backmounted rebreathers and go spend a few years diving that and getting proficient at normal rebreather stuff. It's probably what you want if you want to go deep as well. The uses of a sidemount rebreather where it is an advantage are pretty rare.
