And the mighty half press on these cameras works well usually.
Learning to lock focus and exposure with a half press, then recompose to what I really wanted shoot, eliminated most of the frustration I initially had with my Olympus Stylus 400 point and shoot.

When using wimpy internal flash and using a Q40 to assist in focus, it is best to lock focus with a half press, move the light beam spot out of view, then take the pic; otherwise the light spot of the Q40 will show in the photo
