Is there any danger in putting shrink tubing on lp or hp hoses? To put on the shrink tubing, I would need to expose it to a heatgun or boiling water...exposure to 212-250 degrees F

Reason for asking, wanted to make the gf's potential dive equipment (keeping fingers crossed she gets bitten by the diving bug after her open water) more distinct *cough* pink hoses :p

Thanks,

Bob

I'd leave the hoses alone. Distinction can be achieved without covering hoses that should be visible for inspection.

I definably would not use a heat cinched shrink tube.

1+ what Pete said.

You can buy colored hose protectors, but I would not put anything on a hose that I can't easily slide along the hose to allow for washing and inspection after each dive.... some hose protectors are so tight that it discourages inspecting the end fittings after each dive..... and as a result the end fittings on the hoses only get inspected annually... not nearly adequate in my opinion.

Anyway, back to the OP's question: No. Don't use the heat-shrink tubing on regulator hoses.

Best wishes.

+ 1 to LeadTurn's advice.

Really? Every other piece of dive gear is available in pink.. Pink BCD, Pink tank, Pink reg, pink mask, pink weight belt... Black will make a nice contrast.

....exposing reg hoses to a heat gun is a major bad idea IMHO ! A LP hose that 'blows' underwater during your dive will drain a full tank in about 1 minute....better not prematurely weaken that hose!

+1 for the OP asking an original question I haven't seen here before.
