Maybe I'm a big Pu....., uh, wimp...but, I'm thinking some pads on the shoulder area of my Hog Harness would make my "near" perfect DSS setup.....perfectly Perfect!

I've seen some Apex rigs w/ pads...does anybody know if anything is made for sale separately?

Hey zach,

Here's an example: http://www.leisurepro.com/Prod/Cate...rice/DescSort_0/Filter_1=627/OMSSP.html?Hit=1 but it's $30, not exactly cheap even for LP.

What do you need these for anyway? Are you worried about chafing your wetsuit? Hasn't really happened to me (also have DSS). Or maybe for no wetsuit (hopefully with bathing suit on!) diving? In that case, many just wear a T-shirt.

I don't know about the OMS example above, but many BP/W users don't want to add pads because of the added buoyancy, just a thought.

Cheers.

Zeagle makes shoulder pads, part #519-SP01. I have no idea what they cost, but they are made to fit 2" webbing. Just another option.

Unless you're walking far with your gear on, I don't think you'll find shoulder pads very useful; remember that once you're in the water there is no weight loading on your shoulders at all.

here ya go --- Shoulder Pads for Hog Harness

Two other suggestions:

Make your own pads with thick neoprene. Not sure where to get a sheet, but google might help. If you cant sew, go to a tailor.

Also look at oxycheq.com - they have shoulder pads for this type of harness

I used the Zeagle pads for two dives, the velcro attachment partially tore, and they just got in the way when I was donning. Much prefer my rig without pads. The neoprene pads shown on LP are pretty long, no D rings can be mounted high up unless you cut them. My daughter and grandaughter both use the the OMS pads and they like them.

I also thought I need some at first. But then I have been diving without it for quite some time and didn't bother me that much so decided to forget about it and keep the harness as it is.

zach5150,

I too don't need a padded harness but I've got a pair from ebay some time ago and if you want $10 + shipping and they are yours.

hmmmm.....point taken :) hehe...

Thanks for all your input everybody. I guess I'll go without them. My rig isn't really all that uncomfortable without them. (even though I do have a long haul to get in the water at the lake), but I just thought they might add a little bit of comfort. Sounds like the Negatives outweigh the minor bit of cushioning.

Thanks for helping me save a few bucks!
