Thank you all very much...... I think I willl take your suggestions and use the money on additional training... that seems to make for sense.....

With the $ 250.00 I just saved, I 'm thinken of buying you all a couple of rounds of good old Oregon Micro brew......

But If you don't want the pony because of the extra expense and travel load - differences are not real big - then the spare air is better than no air as long as you don't push it because you have the "backup". But if I were someplace like Cozumel & didn't bring my pony, then I wouldn't mind a spare air to complement that rental tank and assigned buddy I just met on the dive boat. And it should handle the emergency ascent from 80' with a reasonable ascent rate and probably a short stop at 15'.

Spare Air is great for what it was designed for......emergency egress from aircraft after ditching. Other than that, it's not good for much of anything.

Well, ok......it's good for quick dives to the bottom of the pool for about a minute of working time to clear the drain filter....And it's marginal for that.
