I see you are from Oregon... are you by any chance a logger... if you are you no doubt are in great cardio-vascular shape and don't need no stinking spare air...

Course even if you sit behind a desk all day and smoke cigarettes you still don't need no stinking spare air...

Spare air is not insurance ~ it is an illusion of safety...

Spare air is like having house insurance and then suffering total loss by flood and finding out the policy doesn't cover flood damage...
Spare air is like having medical insurance and then contracting Ebola...
Spare air is like having car insurance and driving off a 100 foot cliff but thinking that your insurance will save you...

Spare air is not insurance it is an illusion of safety and that IMO makes it dangerous...

Thank you all very much...... I think I willl take your suggestions and use the money on additional training... that seems to make for sense.....

With the $ 250.00 I just saved, I 'm thinken of buying you all a couple of rounds of good old Oregon Micro brew......

Thanks again.

Ummm- Do they deliver? :D

But If you don't want the pony because of the extra expense and travel load - differences are not real big - then the spare air is better than no air as long as you don't push it because you have the "backup". But if I were someplace like Cozumel & didn't bring my pony, then I wouldn't mind a spare air to complement that rental tank and assigned buddy I just met on the dive boat. And it should handle the emergency ascent from 80' with a reasonable ascent rate and probably a short stop at 15'.

Flame away.

Phil,

I love Mcrobrew Stouts, pleae send one over.

awap,

The spare air does not contain enough oxygen to support much of a flame.:D

Mike that was most excellent!!!!

But seriously folks... even though we are opinionated, dogmatic, bias and bigoted... we are, after all, right.

Just kidding....

We are not bigoted.

Spare Air is great for what it was designed for......emergency egress from aircraft after ditching. Other than that, it's not good for much of anything.

Well, ok......it's good for quick dives to the bottom of the pool for about a minute of working time to clear the drain filter....And it's marginal for that. :D
