i think were gonna stay at the breezes

Be sure to stop in at the Dive hut just outside of the "west wall" of Breeze's. See Suzy & Mark for great conversation and or diving and maybe a POLAR or two after the dive day:D. Making our 6th trip to Breeze's CUR this April. Check out www.the-dive-bus.com
What part of central jersey?

Seconding Jeepguy. Last year dove in Curacao with Ocean Encounters and The Dive Bus & have nothing but good things to say about both.

I am trying to decide between Belize or Curacao in either Late Sept or Early Oct.....can anyone helo me out .... I have searched info on the net ref Curacao and their dive operations (OE Dive Shop Included) My wife and I like to do land stuff, but we come to dive and are looking at min 3 dives a day.

But my concerns are this Belize (during that time) is in the middle of the so - called hurricane season although I know this is largely hit or miss. Some have said you can have superb diving (or if it rains) it can be clouded with low viz and temps......?? Where does Curacao stand as far as these concerns and what would the water temps / viz and air temps (weather) be during this time of year.

I was looking at either Lions Dive Resort 0r Hilton (as they are both service by OE) and have availiable shore diving.....

Any thoughts / suggestions would be great ......

tmp,
I believe that Curacao is outside the so called Hurricane belt. It would be "safer" than Belize therefore. But Hurricane's obviously can effect getting around in general. I would guess even have some effects on diving no matter what . I did go to Bonaire this past summer partly based on the idea that Hurricane would be less likely to effect my vacation. Hey I was right but probably true of anywhere you went this past summer.

yea i was going to stay at the lodge but now i think were gonna stay at the breezes bc its alot closer to down, i wanna do some other things too besides dive so im thinking that is the beter option
What other things do you want to do? Depending how long you're going for, you might want to consider splitting your trip between 2 locations.

There is a tradeoff where ever you stay on Curacao. Being in or close to town puts you closer to many restaurants/shopping/nightlife. But it makes it less likely to get to the better dive areas which are further from town - from there the ops may not go to them often if at all and it's a haul for shore diving. Breezes and the area around it is fairly busy with a lot of activities, which you may consider a positive (I don't.) And if you dive with OE from there I'd expect the boats to be pretty full.

The Marriott isn't a bad compromise - nice resort, not too far from town, decent shore diving, dive op with a pretty good rep that travels more to the western sites and their boat never looks crowded.

Habitat is closer to the good diving and further from town, but close enough (half hour) that we don't mind driving into town many evenings. The dive op is great. The hotel itself had been getting pretty neglected but there are reports that they're working on the place so I have no idea how it stands now.

I was not that impressed by the shore diving at Lions Dive, when we stayed there we didn't have the desire to do it more than a couple times. I don't know how it is now. The Hilton shore dive does not have a wonderful rep, while just around the corner people say the Marriott shore dive is better.
