Normally April is still very nice, with flat seas.

There is a big difference of course with which boat you go out. Personally I would always prefer a trip of 4 days/4 nights, which also has the advantage you go out on the big boat already, so you don't have the speedboat ride.

There was minimal assistance from the staff on the boat they tend to yell at people rushing them. They want you to dive real fast throw-down the money and get you out of their way.
That can be true for the cattleboat operators, the same ones where you are transfered by speedboat to the main boat. On the standard 4 days/4 nights trips this will not happen.
 
stay away from one nighters...bad trip.
better off going on at least 4 day trips, well worth it.
If you travel with a buddy who's not a diver, go on a day trip, same crowd, but you're back for good dinner and a beer or seven on land...
