If you use your underwater welding set to attach the compass to the bouy chain then you will have an artificial marker but it won't be on the bottom and of course the compass will be very useful.

I can say thats it difficult to remember a little piece of ground at 20 ft after looking at the exact same thing for the last 50 min or so. It all tends to look the same.
That's the fun of it! In researching your new "marker", you'll have to start to look for differentiating signs so that when you return, you'll know it's "your" marker. When you start looking closely enough at your potential markers to be able to begin to distinguish them, I promise you'll be looking close enough to notice all sorts of things that you might not have noticed before. Maybe next time you'll "notice" a seahorse or frogfish ;)

We even found that on our second visit to Bonaire we were looking for and using the same marker we had identified the previous year. :) At the southern sites it's really easy to use the mooring ball/line.

Good booties are essential, as much for protection from the ironshore as for good foot support as you navigate the entries.

Here is the entry for Andrea1 & 2. It's a much easier entry when wearing thick soled boots

I'm a new member to the boards also ,going to bonaire for the first time next week ,I too was wondering about booties .great info on this website ,thanks

Most of our dive group used "Deep See 3mm Caribbean Boots" that held-up great on the ironshore, they were easy on and off and comfortable enough to wear all day. For around $30.00 they are a real bargain.

As I mentioned in another thread, I just bought a pair of these boots, and they have good hard soles. I haven't used them yet (2 more weeks) so I can't comment on durability, but they sure look like a real bargain to me. Shipping took less than a week. Some divers use regular tennis shoes, or full foot sandals too. You might require a larger fin for those though.

Here is a standard southern entry , Alice in Wonderland . With good booties the hardest entries are easy by pacific northwest standards , easy
