I've been looking for shore dives that are close to the tampa bay area, besides venice beach. I heard that Indian Shores Reef is a possible shore dive. If it is, where do you enter? Are there any other shores dives around this area that are worth doing? thanks!

Moved to Tampa...

There are a couple of nice shore dives in the Anna Maria island area...Spanish rocks, the sugar barge and third pier. For info look in the insiders info section

I would also be curious to know where the Indian Shores reef is as well.

Eandiver, thanks for the map to all those reefs. Looks pretty neat, I'll be down in June/July hoping to get some diving in.

When you come down look up Capt. Ty. He's on the board and runs an excellent charter from St.Pete out to the best listed sites and many unlisted ones that are as good if not better

Eandiver,

I already have something booked with Capt Ty. The kids and I went out with him one day last year and had a blast. Looking forward to doing that again this year.

So, has anyone ever done any shore diving in the Indian Shores area? I know that I stay at a place right on the beach and have snorkled out pretty far and was thinking of renting a tank or two just to check out some of the sites. I want to be able to just do a single tank in the morning and take the wife out to see some underwater. She is certified, but ended up getting a little sea sick on the boat last year. So, she wont be going out on the boat again.
