Tusa makes some neophrene socks/shoes with soles for about $25......at least they were a few years ago. Still have them and they have stood up fine. Check out Diversdiscount.com.

I was looking to buy shoes for teh tropics..and I was wondering if I should buy a 5mm thick shoes or will it get to hot?

very tough to find the 3 mm ones and those shoes don't have any upperfeet cobering. Just plain neoprene.

I have seen some mares like what you describe. Check Divers Discount and Divers Supply. Heck LP may have them but I have nto seen them in their mag.
