Mmmmmmm....

Just got my brand new shiny 10W HID light from Terkel and it looks fantastic. The light head, in particular, is very well made.

I can't wait to get it wet this weekend. Weather permitting as we are forecast another typhoon, why do they nearly always hit on the weekend???

I shall post a review sometime next week...

hey man where did you get your terkel. where they significantly cheaper than the halcyons?

I'm in the market for one; seems like many choices. How did you decide on the Terkel??

I did a fair amount of research and concluded that the terkel was probably the best value for money and also had the best quality construction for its size.

Plus, Terkel is really good about helping out with queries and stuff. 11 out of 10 for aftersales service.

I bought it mail order through Tech Blue, they are a really nice bunch of people and very helpful. Plus, they are good value and ship internationally.

I paid US$750 plus p&p and, in my experience, nearly everything is cheaper than buying Halcyon

let me know how it goes. i have been researching for a very long time now and still undecided...

Hey Spoon FWIW I got a halcyon 10 HID and while I'm really happy with it... at night it lights up the mona passage with a great blue light I really wish I had shot the wad and gone with a brighter one. During the day its really tough to see the light in our carribean sun. I think its called light envy. Some other guys with the brighter ones can actually use them for communication during the day at shallow depths.

Sadly, typhoon conditions prevented me from getting any dives last weekend. Fear not, intrepid ones, for I intend to skive off work in the next few days for an illicit mid-week dive and will let you know then.

Cheers,

TD

people have been telling me that the 10w are a thing of the past and the 18w hids are the norm. i just have never seen an hid underwater so i havo no actual basis for my purchase. should i just shell out extra and go for the 18s? i dont wanna get the 10w only to regret getting it?
