Not an expert here but, shouldn't they be adjusted and tuned prior to use? I know when I bought mine, a tech went through it and adjusted it before I tried it out in the pool.
Certainly the cracking effort could be adjusted, but 10PSI of IP creep is totally unacceptable IMO for a new regulator. That's not an adjustment, it means the HP seat and piston are not sealing very well. Some seats do need to be broken in a bit, but it shouldn't be nearly as bad in any circumstance as it was. And when I say high cracking effort, I'm talking about well over 2" of water. For a high performance reg that's pretty bad.
Granted, that was only one regulator, one time, so I probably shouldn't be trashing it.
