I've been thinking about buying a Sherwood SR1 regulator. The cheapest I've been able to find it is for $610 at LiesurePro. Yesterday, though, I found it on (through LiesurePro) for $375.

I'm a new ScubaBoard poster, so can't post a link. If you want to see the item on Amazon, you'll have to search on Amazon's website.

What do people think? Why is is so low? Is this a mistake? Is this SR1 different from the more expensive version?

Thanks in advance for any info you have.

It is most likely "open box" or a demo unit. that is a great price. If you want it gor for it. LP stands behind what they sell.

No, it says that it is new. I'm still confused by this, but I ordered one. I'll see what the deal is when it arrives. They have more too.

It is new. Demo or open box is new. It never left the store. You are gonna love it. I have one myself. Enjoy.

I'm looking forward to it. Still need to get an octo and gauges.

This is my first gear (other than mask & snorkel). Have always rented before. Since I've started diving locally now (San Francisco area), it seemed worth it to get my own gear.

Always worth it to have your own gear. I find it helps keep you into it.

Dont let me spoil your party, but be sure its one of the very latest models.

The first three models were fraught with problems especially the enviromental seals bursting and high intermediate pressures (seat issues)

I have had three, two burst the enviromental seals and on the other the swivel turret came loose.

The latest models appear to have been less problematic, but I gave mine back...........when I am diving recreationally, I dont need issues, I reserve that for my day job!! :D.

I lasted to five before switching to something else

exploding seal
exploding seal
unscrewing turret
too much bulging seal with an unscrewing turret
freeflowed in 34F water

after that I switched. I have had all the generations on SR1 from march to christmas.
