Newbie here and just bought a Sherwood Avid BCD. Would like to add an Air 2 system but not sure if they are brand specific or not. Do I need to add a Sherwood one to this or can a Scubapro or other brand work with it?

Thanks.

Another brand would work but the Sherwood Gemini is among the best breathing of the breathable inflators.

Not all will work, like the Oceanic Air XS2, doesnt fit a standard 1" hose. You would need to buy the whole assembly with a new corrugated hose assembly. The Gemini, fits right onto your avid 1" corrugated hose.

Zeagle, also makes one that will go onto your 1" hose, the Octo Z, which is the one I would recommend. We have had alot of problems with the Geminis auto inflating after 5-15 dives and needing to be re-adjusted. There was a problem at the factory or such that it wasnt properly seated, and those have kept having issues. Its also pretty big and heavy. The zeagle is lightweight and durable. We have had no issues with them yet, and alot of people have upgraded from the Gemini to it....

If it was me, I would go with the zeagle...it also has their screw off head so you can screw on a hose and easily clean the inside of your BC....just a neat feature for getting salt crystals out of your bladder easily
