Until I recently got a can light, I was running my long hose under a pair of diving shears kept in a sheath attached to my waist strap. I'm looking for advice about where to now keep these shears. I'd like to keep them as accessible as possible, since they seem better capable of cutting through wire leader than my knife. I could keep the sheath on the waist strap, but it'd be getting a bit cluttered. I could obviously put it in a pocket, but assuming I was ever entangled, that doesn't bode well for getting at it. Suggestions? Pros/cons?

In your pocket is fine. Don't think about it that much, as long as you have it, can get to it you will be fine. Mine even has a blot snap attached so it is secured on the pocket cord.

Ah, I just answered this question on another thread. I have a Scubapro Ladyhawk. While not a wing, it has similar features (back inflator, removable weight pockets). I carry trauma shears in the sheath mounted in the place where the weight pocket goes.

I have a piece of surgical tubing threaded through the plastic end of the sheath and tied off at the back of the pocket area. I put the weight pocket in on top of the sheath. I can pull the sheath out, use the shears, and replace them easily without any problems. I am also able to ditch my weight pocket without any interference. My LDS owner devised this method of mounting the shears. I've been using them this way for almost two years.

I have shears in my left pocket. I kept the nylon sheath they came with and put a bolt snap on that. Some people tie the snap onto the finger holes on the shears but I never liked having the blades loose in my pocket, something my mother taught me I guess.

Knife goes on the waist strap.

I'm thinking this isn't quite DIR. AFAIK, most wings don't come with removable weight pockets unless bought extra.
