hi dive bunnie
was it an unguided group yes??
we end every dive with a safety saus on the surface and well in on the reef to help stop being hit by a boat
so any comments will be appreciated. BTW, I'll be going there with my wife (we're 36 and 34) for 5 days...

My buddy (mikester) and I are looking for a good place to dive in the Red Sea. We live in Germany and would like to make a trip down that way soon. Any suggestions on places to stay and shops to dive with? With regards to the reasons why everyone needs a guide when diving the Blue Hole... well put Red Sea Shadow. Many very valid reasons.
I work in Sharm where all diving requires a guide (except from maybe a couple of beach dives, although an accident at Shark's bay last year has probably put an end to that). Here we have not only the currents and potential swelly conditions to deal with, we also have boat traffic. This is our biggest nightmare. It used to be just the glassbottomed boats who would sit over you and your students as entertainment for their passengers who would be waving at you from the windows! (as you can imagine we would not be waving back). Now we have speed boats, who even if they saw you in the water, move sooo fast that they would not be able to change direction in order to avoid you. And for us, they can come out of nowhere. Hence safety stops need to be on a mooring line or right next to the reefplate.
Anyway, good to see a thread dedicated to diving in the Red Sea, a place no diver should miss out on visiting at least once in their diving lives.
If you go to Sharm El Sheikh youll have good dives regardless, however like many other popular destinations it can be crowded at times.divebunnie, Are you currently living in Sharm?
