I had the pleasure of seeing it when we screened it at our NOAA Film Festival. Rob Stewart made an appearance and introduced the film. He also took questions afterwards and also talked to many of us personally. What an incredible human being! He has now become a trustee of the Shark Research Institute with whom I will be doing a whale shark expedition with next week. Do what you can to promote this film and getting people involved in shark preservation. The more we spread the word of the travesties affecting sharks and so many other species of fish and mammals, the more we can influence governments to change their practices.

Happy diving with my sharkies!

We had it here in Costa RIca! Only for a few day though, We went with the whole crew and I must say we did not have a happy feeling afterwards.
What can we do? Do people have suggestions for us here in CR?
We are in close contact with pretoma and with Marviva.
Together with the CRDP we want to strat a campaign. We received a list of the ilegal fishing boats and Carlos Hiller (famous painter) will mae a big sharkmuriel on a cnetral wall here in COco.
If anybody has any suggestions to help us. Please let stop this Shark Finning!!

I think the key is to promoting the tourist dollars for shark diving and just diving in general. I've heard great things about the COCO Islands and if I was going to plan a trip there I would also want to hit land parts of Costa Rica. Promote all the ecotourism stuff that they can. I know Costa Rica is probably amazing to visit and CR and Galapagos are high on my list for ultimate dive vacations but it made me think twice during that movie. When will people realize that there are only a few incredible places like this in the world and they should be held to the highest respect and conservation?

Does anybody know anything about when, or if this film will be out on DVD? As far as I know, it never made it to theaters in Seattle.

I saw this movie here in Canada last march while my wife was completing her OW pool time. This movie is great ad I can't wait to buy the DVD. I'm even considering buying the companion book for people to look at when they come to my house. I didn't think the movie was coming out on DVD so soon. I thought it wasn't due out until March of 2008.

I bought the book for a couple of people for Christmas. It's a sobering read.

TSandM,
Being you read the book. Is it an actual book or is just a picture book to tie in with the movie with some articles in it?

Sharkwater is showing in Singapore from 17 Jan 08. Watched it... Heartwrenching... Would buy the vcd/dvd if it comes to the shops, good way to "educate" my friends & relatives... When there is no demand, there is no supply... :eyebrow:
Months ago, I sent out an email to my friends to leave me out of their wedding dinners if they want to serve sharksfin soup - it s me or their "faces"...
