Sharks in the Gulf of Mexico?

Nope, mine have all been slower. Good thing, easier to deal with.

There are some wrecks out of Destin that have resident populations of sharks, 20 or per site. You might try taking a charter to hit those if you really want to see some.

You chase the sharks to scare them off? :)

Mat let the water clear where viz is better and you can holed the stringer and we will go looking for one. It seems so far this summer it is shark Paradise everyone is spotting them here on the upper coast

Yep. If I want to watch them I don't do anything, but if I'm hunting & don't want to be molested when they get close to me I just go after them as fast as I can, yell through my reg & jab at them with my spear gun.

Mostly this works. Mostly. This is dealing mostly with bulls. They can be unpredictable.
 
I don't think I'd do that with a 12' + hammerhead coming at me. :)

You think they can swim fast...
