Shark Week's coming... A good thing? A bad thing? Does it really have an effect?

My take is that Shark Week is MUCH better this year vis-a-vis scientific info and a strong conservation message.

I was able to watch several of the programs and was fairly happy with what I saw. Yes there was the shock and awe aspect when dealing with the larger infamous species(great whites, bulls, tigers, oceanic white tips), but in every program was the attempt to explain their behavior. There was a consistent theme of education, conservation, and dispelling of myths. Every attack covered was broken down, every myth was dispelled, and every knee jerk "kill all sharks" event was blasted as being an ignorant over reaction by uninformed masses.
