I was looking to get a bangstick but I am not really happy about having a loaded gun in my bag, I was at the store looking at one, a 12 gauge for 179. But the guy told me I should try the Shark Shield " http://www.sharkshield.com/ " It looked a little snake oilish to me, has anyone had any first hand experience:confused: with it?:light:

All those who would answer in the negative are likely dead.

I have two spearfishing friends who have them and are very satisfied with them.

Are you running into that many aggressive sharks that it's becoming a problem? Or are you just worried about seeing some? I've never really heard any stories about divers being harmed by sharks, we seem to be the ones that dont have much to worry about, with regards to being in the water.

i dove with one guy who had it. it was pretty rediculous. the thing kept on getting wrapped around stuff and it looked like a piece of kelp caught on his foot. this is in monterey where there are no sharks anyway. i think it scared away the sea lions and all the other fish life also.

i think if the water is shark infested and the sharks area agressive; A) you shouldnt be diving there or B) you should be in a shark cage.

yes it is for real. I have seen other documented footage of the inital tests. As soon as the device is triggered the sharks high tail it out of there. They could also attract sharks and make them attack with a different applicaiton of the technology.

If a shark would happen to eat one, diver attached or not, would it cause them to fart sparks? :D

Several locals wear them and are no joke. They will keep the greysuits at bay. I am not sure if it would be a good idea to wear one while diving in a kelp forest.
