I have done it two years in a row. And I will do it again this year going in June to July.
The count down is on.:D

We did the shark dive from AKR last August and LOVED it! The French guy who runs it and the rest of his divers were great, it's well worth the money. As others described you descend down a line and all divers line up with their backs to a large coral formation. They have some food in buckets which are closed at the beginning of the dives and are set about 20-30 feet away from the coral formation. You spend a little time sitting or kneeling by the coral while the sharks multiply, you'll also see some groupers and other fish hanging around. After a little while they let you swim around with the sharks, I was taking photos and video the whole time. Despite having been told not to do so, one woman was frantically waving her arms and hands all over while we were swimming. After a little swimming, you line back up and then they take the lid off the buckets and witness the frenzy. One shark grabbed a fish out another sharks jaws, it was great and over pretty fast. Once the "dust" settles they let you swim around again and the sharks will still linger a little. You can look for shark teeth in the sand. If you want any Tee-shirts, the boat will stop on the way back at another dock where a small gift shop is (make sure you bring extra cash with you cause that's all they take). Take some extra money for a tip also since they aren't from AKR.

We also paid for the dolphin snorkel (after the encounter) and you swim a lot to see them. Next time I think I would do the dolphin dive instead to see them swim underwater. The free horseback riding is also fun at AKR. You'll have a great time!

Here's some photos from our dive:

Did anyone get the video of their dive. If so, what was the price? Also, how much for the tee shirts?

Greg:D

I'd say the videos were about $65.00 as deckhand said. They also shoot the wreck dives and other dives, those videos can add up. We went on a group trip, AKR said that their videos cannot be copied but they can, so someone on our trip just made us a copy. I took some video of my own in addition to photos. We also paid for the dolphin photos during the encounter, it can get pretty pricey. We had two boats filled for just our group and no one that paid for the shark dive got a tee shirt so I think that's interesting about what deckhand said. They didn't just have one tee shirt so I'm not sure how/what or why he got a free one. I'd say take an extra $40 bucks just in case, we didn't buy any but others did. Probably closer to $20 range but I can't say for sure.

I think we got a free tee shirt because they where orange in color :hm: Last time I wore my tee shirt was last Halloween , as you know good color for the occasion :rofl3:

Our group just did this dive Feb 28th..it was amazing and worth the $$ spent.
The cost of the video has gone up $75.00 if under 3 are bought. Three or more brings the cost down to $50.00 each.
