I no longer service my own regs, but I have or find someone that I trust really well.
 
The biggest problem with servicing your own regs will be parts procurement. Even then most of the o-ring are easy to come by. Diaphragms, and seats are the problems.

It is definitely not rocket science and almost all the manuals are easy to come by on the web.
