HELP!! I'm a newbie to the board, but not to scuba. I have several of the older ScubaPro 1st stage regs - MK 5, MK 7, MK 9 & MK10 as well as 2nd stages. Need recommendation on VERY reliable, trustworthy service center/shop to send my regs for annual/maintenance. Thanks

Those are some of the most rugged and (with the exception of the VII) easy to service regulators ever made, and no great skill or knowledge is necessary to service them. HOWEVER a lot of the lower grade of dive shops, and this sadly includes some SP shops, will routinely try to tell you they are too old to service, or dangerous or some other nonsense, and try to sell you new ones. The secret is to find a Scubapro shop that's been around for a while, casually bring in one or two, plunk them on the counter and ask "is this worth servicing?" If the guy's eyes light up and he says "Of course, those are some of the best regs ever built" you've found your man. If he says anything else grab them and run. If he say's "I can try but there ain't no parts for them anymore" run even faster - part availability remains good, and if the guy doesn't have the parts, how is he going to service them well?

Or buy my book, a Visegrips and a hammer and service them yourself..........
