The bolt snaps for the stage bottles and the spg are all clipped to the same D-ring. The bolt snaps for the stage bottles are arranged to be inside of (closer to your body) the clip for the spg.

Once you get into the 3+ bottle range what we do is use 2 bottles on the left side and then we use a handle to clip off the remaining bottle. Again we use the left side and if you rig them and the handle properly the bottles will float behind your left side in the slip stream creating nearly no drag.

What do you mean by the spg on the outside?

I mean that if you clip the SPG to the ring first, and clip the bottles on after/over it, it'll be difficult to get to it. By clipping it on after/outside the stage bottles, the hp hose won't be trapped, and you'll be able to unclip and read the gauge easily.

If one was to carry two AL40 stage bottles, etc., how would he/she clip the bottle to the right side of their harness w/o a D-ring on the right hip as well?

I've never seen anyone do it, but the Fundies book mentions cavers clipping o2 bottles on the right chest ring in anticipation of a quick drop in the basin.

Not sure. Mike said the 3rd bottle is clipped to a handle. I was just wondering where that handle was located.

It isn't a "handle" guys. It is more properly referred to as a"bottle leash". Basically, it is a small length of line formed into a loop and attached to a double-ender. Fromt here, each bottles top clip is clipped to the loop, and then the double ender is clipped to the hip D ring. This allows a single diver to carry a great many bottles (especially if scootering). Realisitically, 4 bottles is about the maximum you can carry for the purpose of diving (more than that becomes quitee cumbersome), however, for purposes of setting up or team diving where you have people ferrying lots of botles around, you can carry a dozen or more for short periods of time. If you are really interested I can post a photo of the bottle leash later tonight.
