Its going to be too hot inland tomorrow so I'm off to FT Wetherill to do some easy diving in the coves searching for tropicals in the shallows and maybe an excursion to the points.

If anyone wants to join me for some easy diving and a cooling off, youre more than welcome to join me. Ill be driving a 97 Saturn with tinted window and may be there around 11 am or so.

Just an invitation to have a bit of fun and dive with a buddy if possible.

I noticed the wavecams show flat seas and have a good feeling for tomorrow in the coves. Cant promiss good vis though but I can promiss a tropical or 2.

I have been done in by a head cold. It will be a dry weekend or at least one without compressed air.

Get better soon Spectrum.

Thanks but I can't complain, it was a good run and this will pass. Heaven knows there are plenty of things for me to do this weekend aside from diving.

My Gf and I are going there tomorrow AM. Never been before but it looks really nice.

Do you have any info on conditions?

Does the location get any surge or surf in the 15knot sw breeze expected tomorrow?

What type of tropical fish could I possibly seee?

Thanks.

That there is crazy talk!! :D

Wish I could join you guys. Unfortunately I'll be diving in the Gulf of Mexico Saturday...:rofl3:

Vis was @4' last weekend (only did some freediving from goatpath), confirmed with some divers there. Winds out of the south typically not good for conditions there or anywhere else in RI for that matter.

Have fun guys!! Sorry to hear no diving Pete....

Looks like surf from Gabriel is just starting to show and the swells are predicted to really be present by Monday. That and the fact there are strongish SW winds predicted make it too big of a gamble to take a 2-1/2 HR drive to Jamestown.

I therfore feel the Portland Quarry is a good bet.

Here is the info Im basing this on. Wave cam and report.

If anyone does dive Ft Wetherill, please post a report and we can compare the conditions to the report.

Also a small craft advisory has just been issued for the Block Island Sound.

Was there today. In the water by 8:30 am, before the waves started. Vis was 5-10 ft. By 10:00 am , whitecaps were starting to form out beyond the island.

Lots of fish, (don't know which would be tropical!) a couple of large red jellies, misc other cool life forms!

Real nice site, will frequent in the future!!

Pretty packed by 10 am though... lots of certification dives occuring.
