According to www.caloriesperhour.com, I burned 533 cals doing water aerobics.

The same site has the ability to calculate the calories in many foods, even restaurants. Definately track (write down) what you eat (calorie wise) and what you burn..

Keeping track will show you were YOU make the most gains / losses...

Weight loss is different for all, sort of like diving.. You need to find what works for you. Tracking things makes it that much easier to visually see.

I track stuff in an excel spreadsheet similar to Jonnythan. I even track how much water I drink. I definately notice on the days I drink 8 + servings of water (8 oz.) my weight loss increases. The days I starve myself of water, my weight loss slows down..

Keep up the good work!

Oh yeah, drink lots of water. Serious fuel for fat burning :)

Ok... been drinking lots of water, and created a log in excel. Also, just realized that my work schedule won't allow me to do all the lap swim sessions that I want to, so I will have to do a few days of water aerobics because they are at different times. I don't really like the water aerobics... I think because I don't feel like I get as good of a workout, but I'll just have to see what happens with my blubber tone.... I mean muscle tone!! LOL One thing is for sure.... I realized in that class, that I have no coordination what-so-ever!! LOL

The secret to looking good in a wetsuit:

1. Always stand or sit next to someone larger than you are.
2. Nobody looks good in a wetsuit anyway, especially with the hood and mask on and the regulator crammed into the mouth.

Relax. Have fun.

I am just starting in the SCUBA world, still in Open Water class. Had to buy a wetsuit cause the rentals did not fit. I feel like a big blueberry in the suit (kind of look like one too). I dread finding out how much weight I will need on my belt. I also am in the process of trying to loose weight. However, I think more importantly than dieting, too many large people put off doing things because they worry about what others will think. Life is short and losing weight is hard and I think diving will be fun. In short, just go for it. I still get embarassed but the prospect of doing something I will enjoy and can do despite size outweighs the self-conciousness.

I haven't read all nine pages of dietary advice, but I did have one thought for an immediate fix:

Drysuit.

They're baggier, and conceal your shape more. :)

I painted stripes on my wetstuit because I heard it was "thinning"...am I wrong?

Personally, I know I don't look great in a wetsuit, but then I think about...err...larger...people in wetsuits that I have witnessed performing superior dive skills and control, and "the beautiful people" I have witnessed diving like a drunken lumberjack. The only appearence that matters beneath the waves is skill, IMO, and anyone who's concerned with my gut should probably be paying more attention to their depth gauge.

They make your butt look bigger. :shakehead

Not me, I'm hot! LOL....(its what 7 days a week in the gym buys you)...

You should lose weight to be healthy, looks takes backseat priority. Life is more enjoyable when you can do the things you love without being hindered by your weight.

I'm 6'3" and a year and a half ago I weighed 304 lbs.... now I'm down to 227. How'd I do it? Try the south beach diet. I've tried just about every diet out there, and south beach was the easiest to follow. No portion measuring, no counting "points", no extreme measures. Combine that with exercise (you will have to exercise, you cannot lose weight without BOTH diet and exercise) and the pounds shed away.

By the way, I still don't like the way I look in a wetsuit.
