I would like to upgrade to HD video. Have been looking at the sony videocams. The CX150 has good reviews for land use. I'm considering a Ocean Images housing, have been very pleased with the Ocean Images PC housing and Sony PC 105 videocam that I have been using the past 6 years. The comparable Ocean Images CX110 housing states to have manual white balance. I haven't had white balance capabilities in the past. I'm seeking comments/input on the camera, housing and white balance. Can white balance be done with the newer HD editing software (i.e. Pinnacle HD premium software) or the Sony video processing programs? What should I look for in a new laptop computer to edit the HD video? My husband and I like to produce DVD's with video and still photography slide shows to send to the friends we travel with.

I've used a dual core 1.6 MHz Pentium based laptop to edit my HDV footage from a Sony HC-7 for several years without problems. However, I think the CX150 creates AVCHD files which may require more horsepower that that. I've played with some AVCHD files on my quad core 2.8 MHz desktop but never a big project.

IF I am correct on the AVCHD format on that camcorder, you may want to convert the footage to a format easier to edit.

Thank you for the advice. I'm looking at several laptops with fast processors and lots of RAM and memory. It's great to get input as I go through the research process.

Laine,

I have the CX110 and am considering getting the ocean image housing. Are you happy with yours? I will have to import.

They look bulky and I am not sure about accessing the menus/buttons. I appreciate your feedback.
