Okay here is another question. I just did a 500 hour service this weekend on my compressor which consists of replacing the 2nd and 3rd stage intake, exhaust valves and other minor things.

A little history, when I bought the compressor it was used, and was told that it was just serviced for the 500 hour service, now it has about 550 hours on it. I wanted to check to see if it was done, but after removing the heads I saw that the exhaust valves weren’t punched a second time, I think I was lied to or fibbed to (lie is a strong word). So when I removed the heads, I noticed in the second stage the piston and cylinder had some staining like there was water that sitting in the cylinder for a while in the past. I felt the cylinder walls they are smooth no rough spots just stained. Has anyone seen something like this on their compressor?

The compressor has been running fine from what I can tell other than slow which is due to the motor and pulley (other post). Is there any way to tell if the cylinder is losing too much compression? I am thinking that I should just replace the 2nd stage cylinder and piston. Any thoughts?

Thanks
Damon
