I recently got a Seaquest XR2, not sure what the first-stage is. I was just wondering how good these are? Are there any known problems? Are they reliable? Are they compatible with Nitrox?

Thank you,
Peter

I bought Seaquest XR2 brand new in October,1998, and 500+ dives later I am still using it. I would say that the reliability is excellent, and it breathes extremely easy.I have had no real problems with it.I do get it looked at every 12-18 months just to be sure all is ok.I do not know if it is nitrox compatible.Good luck & good diving.

I bought a couple in 99 and still using them, I've used them in 39F water (with the enviro kit) and never had a problem. I just switched one to left hand setup for my independent doubles. I also don't know about nitrox.

Thanks for the info! It sounds like it's worth keeping. Now, I just need to find out if it's Nitrox compatible.

Thank you,
Peter

All regulators are nitrox compatable up to 40%

I used XR-2 s for several years in the late ninties as they were the standard rental reg of my local dive shop. They seemed very durable and I liked them alot at the time ( I was a new diver so I didn't have alot of experience to compare them to other brands). Alas the fellow went out of bussiness, before I could save up enough money to buy a set.

I believe that they were made by Liquid Air of France (aqualung) and are essentially the same as one of the aqualung regs made then. I can't remember which one. I do remember that the shop carried TUSA, Aqualung and SeaQuest regs, I used them all during various trips with the shop and I prefered the Seaquest.
