And it begins. Make sure to use a long hose, splits are terrible, and only use a pony if you want to die.

I would take issue with the insinuation that my post was derogatory or inflamatory in any way.

I looked at the number of dives he has and made the "guess" that since he hasnt been diving long, he probably isnt aware of how dive shops work and the control manufacturers have over individual shop sales practices.

Further, suggesting he look into other options....not because they are better, but it "appears" as though his shop doesnt carry a varied line (who does??)....is something I would suggest to anyone about to spend the kind of money dive gear costs.

I see nothing started. And, if he wants to use a Spare Air or pony bottle or long hose yada yada yada.....then that is his choice and personally I really dont care.

They intensity of the posts & poster's on this board is fantastic!

Thanks for all of the additional info. I'm a bigger guy (6' 4" 225), and the QD seems to sit nicely on my frame. I tried a bp/w once (in Cozumel), and found the experience a little unstable and unfamiliar. For me, I equate safety to familiarity.

I'm buying regs, a computer, and a BCD. I live in Michigan, and have visited no less than eight lds's in my quest for the best combination of price, personality, accessibility, and service. I've used the internet boards and stores to evaluate and force rank what interests me in each particular category. You're absolutely right - I'm going to try and leverage my dollars for all they're worth! I've tried on the Mares, Oceanic, Sherwood, Zeagle, and SeaQuest BCD's. I've had a great time shopping for equipment, met a bunch of interesting people, and have established my favorites.

I've been diving for almost three years, but sadly my diving has been limited to the ten days or so a year that I vacation. One of these days, I'll update my profile to reflect a more accurate snapshot of my experience.

Thanks again for all of the input, greatly appreciated.

Great. Glad you had the opportunity to give various bcd's a try. Whatever works for you is what you ought to do.

Other than add a crotch strap to my PQD had I continued to dive it, I would have ditched the cumberbund and gone with a metal buckle. More secure I think.

I apologize if my comment was taken as an insult. The OP said in post #6 that he has tried "harness style BCDs" which I took to mean BP/W. I just find it funny when some one asks for an opinion about X, and people start talking about Y. The OP wanted to know about the PRO QD, not BCDs in general. If he asked what sort of BCD people recommend your post would be completely relevant.

The way a lot of folks around here suggest a BP/W when someone asks about a certain brand of jacket BC reminds me of nearly every LDS I visited when I was looking for fins.

I would walk into the store and tell them I was looking for new fins, paddle style, and stiffer rather than softer. EVERY SINGLE STORE (except one) immediately showed me split fins and asked if I had looked at splits!! Everyone basically said that the splits (particularly Bio Fins) were the only fins worth buying and that they would make me a better diver.

Frankly, I'll stick with my Jets....and my Zeagle Zena. ;)

I'm finally going to buy my own equipement. I'm interested in anybody's experiences with the SeaQuest Pro QD BCD. My lds is working up a package, and this is the BCD they're leading with.

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks !

Didn't take the post as an insult.

I did respond to his question about the PQD, and, responded to his last comment that "any" input would be appreciated.
