Hi ladies,

I've looked through the posts, but I'm hoping for some more input.

I'm thinking of buying a used Seaquest Libra BC. I'd appreciate any pros and cons, sizing recommendations, etc.

I've done only warm-water diving, and probably will stay that way, although we do live on a cold lake.

Thanks!

There is a sizing chart on the SeaQuest Web site, here. Should give you a rough idea, although of course there is no substitute for trying it on.

My wife (and dive buddy) dives the Libra and loves it!. Lots of lift and easy to get in/out of by herself. she dives most of the time with an HP100. The back side weights pockets are a real help in good trim. Best intergrated weight pockets on the market. Go for it!

This BC is a slightly smaller version of the Balance (which I dive frequently with).

Hi, I have recently bought one myself, and in the process of looking for it, I realized that there are two versions: integrated weights with velcro straps and surelock integrated weights.
I actually love mine (with surelock): the integrated weights can be easily realeased with a firm pull of the surelock system. I would not have trusted the velcro straps, and I had almost decided to buy the Scubapro Ladyhawk despite providing a worse fit for me, when I saw the surelock system.

One thing you have to make sure though, is that you are confortable with a back inflated BCD. It is harder to maintain a horizontal position at surface.

Hope that helps,

Itziar

We recently bought a Libra for my wife -- actually, it hasn't been in the water yet -- it was between the Libra and the Ladyhawk. Each had it's pro's and con's. The Libra won out because the fit was better. We could have gotten the "close out" older style Libra with the Velcro, but opted to pay the extra $$ and get the Sure-Lock system.

The one thing she did prefer about the Ladyhawk was the cumberbund -- guess an extra feeling of security with something more substantial around your midsection.

Cant' wait to get wet and see how it works for her.

I own one of the older models with velcro on the weight pockets. I haven't experienced any problems with them, but at the time I bought mine, that's all there was. I find it easy to get in and out, and since there is little in the front, it works well with my drysuit.
