I have the sealife dc1200 Maxx kit with dual flashes and have absolutely loved using it both in Australia (where i live) and overseas. Although I use it in photographic mode more often, I frequently use it in video mode as well, so I've noticed the release of the dc1400 with hd video with great interest.

Does anyone know:-

1.whether the new dc1400 has a new housing as well or whether it fits the dc1200 housing;
2.when the new dc1400 will be available to buy in Australia.

Cheers
Michelle

Let me confirm with Sealife and get back to you guys. Most of the accessories like the strobes and the video lights will work with the DC1400 but I'm not 100% sure about the camera housing and the wide angle lens.

PS: Sealife is very strict about sending their products out of the country so you would have to check with the Australian distributor.

We have them listed on our website: Buy and review underwater camera packages and combos | underwater camera and housing combos | camera housing and strobe packages, and more - ShootingUnderwater.com

We ordered quite a few of them and we'll have them ready to ship out towards the the end of October. If you guys are interested feel free to contact us.

I contacted them with similar questions... The inner camera to the DC1200 will not work with the housing of the DC1400, according to them. Personally, I would still like to hear this confirmed from an outside source though. The other items will work with it, with the exception of the wide angle lens. They said it would cause the images to vignette

From the manufacturer's Sealife forum on Scubaboard:

"I am afraid the Dc1400 is a unique camera and will not fit into the DC1200 housing. However all the accessories will work with the DC1400 with the exception of the Wide Angle lens. The DC1400 has a 26mm lens that is uber wide and can focus down to 1" for great macro shots.

Hope this helped.

Joe"

Another question on the DC1400

My DC1400 was operating well, great pics but the last time I hooked it up to my laptop to upolod photos everything froze. It got to the PC/charge screen with the lens out and thats all, then it all went black. Removing the cable the green light is back on, but the screen only shows the PC/Charge, the lens remains out even if the camera is turned off. I have tried removing the battery abd reinstalling it but nothing changes. I have tried running the battery down by leaving it on to try to reset it and now it wont even take a charge to turn back on.

Is there a way to reset the camera, or does it need to go back?

Graham
