Hello,

I'm trying to work on a trip for seahorse photography and looking for areas where I can spend at least a week with the horses. Any ideas as to locations?

Ed

I have had good luck in New Jersey with the sea horses:)

If you want to go for an exotic location, and love macro & sea horses, I think it is hard to beat Indonesia for pigmy sea horses (e.g. Manado or Komodo)

Hello,

Where at in New Jersey? I dont' really care if it's exotic just as long as there's horses!

Ed

L Street in Belmar, on the back bay of Shark River, The back bays around Barneget and a few others. Last August on one dive I counted 16 different Seahorses in a very small area. I haven't located any this year yet. Probably won't since I'm not living near there any more. I have about 6 hours of video I shot of them.

Hi Ed,

I've seen a few seahorses in Curacao. But I heard that the island of Dominica is well known for it's seahorses. I am heading there in January. (Seahorses are a mild obsession I have).

Hello,

Thanks for all the posts in this matter, I greatly appreciate it. Dolphins and seahorses are obsessions of mine :)

I spent a couplle of weeks in Barbados, saw a lot of sea horses but it did take a ton of looking.

Hey blacknet,
Do you know where to look when you reach a site where there are supposed to be seahorses present? What kinds of corals they like and stuff like that?

I've looked for seahorses that were supposed to inhabit a rock on a particular divesite I know. The problem was that the rock was covered in all kinds of plants and you practically had to push the glass fish out of the way to see the corals. When I got through, I barely knew where to start.

Hello,

I've yet to find one while underwater but have not looked to hard. I do know they can change shape and color to match the enviroment. They are very hard to find.
