Anyone know what these are made from? I looked at their website but they do not list what the material is made of. We had a customer come by the shop who has a 'mild' latex allergy who had a horrible reaction to this mouth piece, or so it seems. Her Dr said it could have been a number of things.... the mouthpiece, something in the water (they were in rainbow river), or ......?? she was wondering if we know what it was made of but we don't carry them.

wonder if anyone has ever had a similar reaction.

Thanks

Nope, I enjoy mine. Previously I used to get the skin rubbed off inside my mouth. With seacure it fits without rubbing.

Call them and ask. Real accommodating folks.

It's some kind of hypo-alergenic razzmatazz space age elastopolymer goop stuff. (Well, that's the technical name for it, anyway)

We love ours! I spend hours and hours a day using one. My wife's mouth is so tiny that she uses a pediatric dentist. This is the only mouthpiece she can use with ease.

Oh! Technical jargon, eh? :)

It looks and feels just like the stuff that my football mouth pieces were molded from. Same process, too. You dunk them in a pot of boiling water and bite down to form the impression.

I'm not sure what they're made of.... the same stuff that sports mouth protectors are made of, I would guess. I love mine as it makes holding the regulator in my mouth effortless. The only drawback would be if my buddy needs to share air with me (I was taught to donate the primary & I go to my bungee'd secondary) it might be a tad uncomfortable for the one needing the regulator, as it is formed to my mouth, but then at that point, the dive is over.

Speaking from personal experience, you won't give a tiny rat's behind that it's not molded for your mouth if an emergency happens.

but you also know how picky some people can be

"Oh no! I'm out of air because I was an idiot and didn't watch my guage! But I guess I'll just drown now because I'm picky about mouthpieces." Darwinism in action.

Personally,..... it wouldn't bother me, but you also know how picky some people can be:shakehead:.

I think that you should carry Seacure mouthpieces fitted to each of your buddies. Then you could install the proper mouthpiece before you hand off your primary or octo.

don't think that is really a practical solution. just stick the one in your mouth and head for the surface at a controlled rate of ascent......
