I wonder what is the best medication for sea sickness? Shell I take it during or before I go on board?

N.B
I have favism or what is cold (g6dp I think, I am not sure)

Do a search or go back in this forum a few pages....there was just a lengthy thread on this very subject.

Ginger snaps are really good. Eat them as soon as you start feeling queasy. Also, SLOWLY sip a glass of water with your ginger. If you gulp it I promise you WILL puke.

Stay in the breeze, and don't read a book or go below decks. Look at the horizon, not your feet. If you can, stay in the water as long as possible: first on in, last one out. If you're getting REALLY sick, pull on your wetsuit and jump in, assuming the boat is anchored. Float on your back and don't get out until its time to leave. If you feel better and want to make the second dive, have someone hand down your gear. DON'T GET IN THE BOAT. (Trust me, I've been there before)

Also, Scop patches work great, that's what I use in addition to ginger to keep it down. Half a patch works for me, but it depends on your size and weight.

Take it the night before you go to bed, one when you wake up and every 4 hours.

When diving in Hurgahda the instructor bought seasick pills from a local drugstore and they worked great. I took them with breakfast and had no troubles all day.

Go to your doctor and get the patch. They work great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They are only available by prescription.

Whatever drug you use, there are a few things you can also do to lessen your chances of screaming at the fish.
-Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Make sure you drink lots and lots of water.
-Don't drink anything acidic like coffee or OJ before you get on the boat.
-Eat something easy to digest and neutral before boarding, like a bagel. Eggs are okay for some. (If not for that reason, then eat some because fish love eggs).
-Don't eat greasy breakfast meat like bacon or sausage.
-Get some sleep

These things do help you keep your breakfast in your stomach, but everyone's different, your mileage may vary.

bonine is pretty good ,take a tablet before you go sleeping then one in the morning when you wake up and one before you enter the boat.Dont look down instead focus on something stationary like the horizon, make sure that you,ve something in your stomach, there are many ways how to prevent seasickness and you have to find out what is working best for you ,peace

Try Bonamine. My buddy takes it i hr. before the dive. It works great for him. But there was a time when We had bad air in our tanks, Well he still got dizzy, But i think it's because of the air.

I think the thing he's concerned about is G6PDD, this is an enzyme deficiency that can affect how you react to certain foods, or medications. The major problems are fava beans, aspirin, and sulfa drugs. It'd be a good idea to talk to the pharmacist before buying any seasickness remedies or meds. Also I would try out some the behavioral remedies first ie looking at a fixed abject on shore, staying on the deck instead of in the cabin, not reading ect. good luck with this.

Peace
