I did a couple of dives at Breakwater in Monterey a couple of months ago and the Sea Lions hadn't shown up yet. I'm going to be back in the neighbourhood in the next couple of weeks and thought I'd try again.

Have the Sea Lions been active the last week or two at that site?

Thanks,

D

They're there... all the way to the end... past the fenced in area. Much the better since you won't have any problems with fishing line past the fence.

Thanks. Good to know they're around.

How bad is the Red Tide?

Chuck: I've never seen a Red Tide at Monterey. Is there a particular season when this happens in Monterey? When the blooms occur, how long do they last? Do they occur locally, or is the whole Bay affected? I was hoping to see the sea lions again later this month (after a few dives with their brethren down in La Paz earlier this month, I'm hooked).

I scanned my ba_diving archives for "red tide". There were 60 hits, almost all in July
through October.

The blooms tend to cover larger areas, but rarely the whole bay.

Wasn't getting wet this weekend so i went down to the local sea lions and took these pics. They'r definitely around right now.
