Depends on each person's reaction. My DH gets a few stings and barely feels anything. His bites disappear quickly. I on the other hand, may get stung all over my neck, arms or legs; have severe itching for days; and the bites take weeks to disappear. I would guess that I have some sort of allergy to the little buggers. Most people don't seem too bothered by them. If you're wearing a wetsuit or skin, then you really only need SeaSafe for your neck & face, maybe the tops of your hands. Otherwise, yeah, you'd go thru a lot of the stuff for 3 people if you're using it on your whole body.
 
they are almost always very near the surface.
when i see small jellies above me i take out my 2nd stage and give them a shot of bubbles. not foolproof but it seems to save me from skin problems others get. even if it doesn't work you are at least fighting back. :)
btw, the skin protection sold in your lds is really just a very thick sunscreen.

Those are not sea lice. Sea lice are the larvae of the jellies you see and are very much smaller.
